On the National Register of Historical Places, the Vitrolite Building was constructed in 1926 as the Cleveland headquarters of the Vitrolite Company; manufacturers of a popular opaque glass used in 1920s-1950s interior and exterior design. As service areas in the neighborhood evolve to become front doors, our work maintains the historic formality of the original structure while reimagining the interior as a more flexible multi-tenant mixed-use structure.

Operating as the headquarters for Harness Collective, the building also includes a Yoga studio, cafe, stay-and-play, and event/coworking space. Untethering many of the programmatic interventions from the exterior walls allowed greater flexibility and economy in planning while negotiating the constraints of the building's historical designation.
